I teach a few computer classes at my library a month. As a courtesy, I call the patrons that have signed up the day before as a reminder. This patron decided she needed some extra reminders....
Me: I'm calling to remind you that you signed up for a computer class at the library tomorrow morning at 10am
Patron (female, late 60's/early 70s): Oh, great. Can you call me in the morning and wake me up?
Me: Uhhh....
Patron: My alarm clock is broken, so if you will just call me about 9:00am or so, I'll be there.

Kissing Eden Review Stop
A while back I did a cover reveal for T.A. Foster’s Kissing Eden. The reason I signed up for
the cover reveal was because the synopsis intrigued me. I knew this would be
something I would actually read so I wanted to help promote it. The cover reveal received a lot of positive feedback from my followers. Glad to know that we have the same taste in books! Imagine my excitement
when I was given the chance to read an ARC of Kissing Eden.
Book Summary
Have you ever thought of taking a vacation alone? I mean step on a plane, check into your hotel, and lie on the beach completely and utterly alone. No? Me either, but then right before senior spring break I got dumped.
Something about break ups makes you do things you didn’t want to do, and try things you didn’t know you were capable of. That’s how I ended up at the Palm Palace. That’s how I met Grey. That’s how my spring break turned into the most unforgettable week of my life |
I originally thought this would be a full length novel, but
I was surprised to find out that it was shorter story. It always intrigues me to see
how authors can create characters and storylines that hook the reader with a
shorter amount of words. More often than not, I’m left with wanting more. Let
me just say that after reading Kissing
Eden, Foster has a superb talent for not only weaving storylines that draw
you in, but for assembling a cast of appealing characters. This story could
have easily been fleshed out to a full novel, but it was far from lacking. She
did a great job with the limited length.
I found myself invested in Eden and Grey’s romance and their
back stories. I thought Foster did a great job wrapping up their romance with
all the chaos in their life. I’m definitely glad I read this light New Adult
romance. It didn’t take me long and I walked away with a positive feeling. I
will definitely be on the look out for more from this author.
Looky, a giveaway!

Trending Book Titles
Hands down one of my favorite parts of being a librarian is
collection development. Collection Development is something that I take very
seriously and I try to find titles that I know my patrons will love. I can’t
help but feel proud when one of the titles I ordered is constantly being checked
out. I feel like I have done my job and I am the best librarian in the world (I
have a tendency to let this euphoric feeling go to my head…or ego.) Since I am
bursting with pride, I thought I would try to spotlight some of the titles that
have been big hits. Remember, I am the Reference Librarian so these titles will
be nonfiction.
Cookbooks are beyond popular at my branch. Being in a small
Southern town, cooking is an art form here. A recent big trend is paleo
cooking. In my first few months here (I started in November 2012) there was a
steady demand for anything related to paleo. We had absolutely nothing on it,
so I order a 5 or 6 titles. Over the last year, these titles have stayed
constantly checked out. Paleo Slow Cooker by Arsy Vartanian has been the title with the most circulations. In the past 12 months it has
checked out 20 times. I didn’t even see it for at least 6 months because it had
a good size hold list.

@TessaDare Interview & Giveaway
My love of romance novels is no secret and I have written about my trip to RWA Librarian Day 2013 several times. One of the highlights was that I met Tessa Dare. In preparation for the Librarian Day I tried to read some of the works of authors that I knew were attending. A friend had given Tessa Dare's Any Duchess will Do high stars on Goodreads, so I thought that would be a good place to start. This book is filled with a great cast of characters that are not only dreamy, but real. They are flawed and that is what makes them wonderful. And let me tell you about the desk scene in Any Duchess will Do. I think I said "oh, my" aloud probably a good 6 or 7 times. Talk about sizzle. Since then I have been hooked!
Ms. Dare was gracious enough to submit to one of my zany interviews. I hope you enjoy her answers and if you haven't read any of her work, go now! Her novels are full of witty and lovable characters. I would start with Any Duchess will Do. Even though it is a later Spindle Cove book, her books are stand alone. This is hands down my favorite of hers. If you are a night reader, be prepared to stay up all night. They are just impossible to put down. Her works have easily claimed some of my favorite romance novels spots. She is definitely an author to look out for! I also have another treat for you. I'm giving away not one, but THREE Tessa Dare books (including my favorite, Any Duchess will Do) to one lucky winner (US residents only). Good luck and enjoy!

Thrift Store Tuesday
Last year I was finally introduced to the In Death series by J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts). I was lucky enough to meet Roberts in July 2013 and was able to get her to sign a paperback copy of Naked in Death. Well, you can imagine my surprise when I find an autographed paperback copy of Naked in Death at the thrift store...for 99 cents.

Jennifer L. Armentrout Cover Reveal
It's Time!! The STONE COLD TOUCH cover is here!
Jennifer L. Armentrout is a HUGE hit at my library. I am constantly placing her titles on hold and I know my patrons will be lining up to get Stone Cold Touch! Stone Cold Touch is a young adult paranormal romance by Jennifer L. Armentrout and is the second full-length novel in The Dark Elements Series being published by Harlequin Teen.
Every touch has its price
Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.
But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…
"Constantly entertaining...the narrative sizzles with as much tension as romance."
—Kirkus Reviews on White Hot Kiss
Sidenote: Does the male on the cover of Stone Cold Touch look like Erik von Detten from the Disney Channel? Circa 2000. Remember Brink or So Weird? No? Well maybe you might recognize him from The Princess Diaries movie as Josh Bryant?
You see it now, don't you?
Also check out White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout!
One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

@CoraCarmack Interview & Giveaway Hop
Since then I have been following Cora as she has released several more books. Let me tell you, this girls rocks at social media. From the cover reveals to the contests, she is working tirelessly to promote her work and this fabulous genre. She did a wonderful contests where she autographed hundreds, if not thousands of copies of her book Finding It, but only a few had special inscriptions. If you found one of those inscriptions and messaged her about it, then she would feature your name as a character in a book. How neat! This prompted me to go to 4 Targets! Sadly, I didn't find one, but it was a wonderful experience. See? It is going that extra mile with your fans that will create life long fans. She graciously agreed to one of my silly interviews, where the questions are light-hearted and ridiculous. I also have a copy of Losing It to giveaway to one lucky winner. Enjoy and Good Luck!
Silly Author Interview Questions for Cora Carmack
(Because these are way more fun than regular questions)
1 What song always gets stuck in your head?
Oh man, there are so many. I usually find myself singing anything and everything by the Lumineers or Ed Sheeran. Or some completely off the wall older song like I Will Survive or I Heard It Through the Grapevine
Left Handed or Right Handed? Right handed
What is the inspiration behind Bliss’ name? (This isn’t silly, but I am very intrigued by the thought process behind how authors name their characters) I wish I knew! I get this question all the time. I remember searching baby name websites for Garrick’s name, but Bliss was just Bliss from the moment I knew her.
If I were to give you a cookie, what kind of cookie would it be?
Chocolate Chip. I like the classics. J
Which book have you read over and over again?
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix holds the record for my most re-reads of all time. But I’m a BIG re-reader, so I’ve re-read most of my favorites at least a handful of times.
Guiltiest pleasure TV show?
At the moment… Bitten. It’s based on a book by Kelley Armstrong and is about werewolves. It’s in its first season, and while there are some definite cringe worthy moments, I’m still enjoying it. Also… Reign. They’ve pretty much abandoned all sense of historical accuracy, but my addiction doesn’t seem to care.
What is the worst job you have ever had?
You know… I’ve never had an absolutely unbearable job, but in college I worked the fitting room at Target, and boy do I have some retail horror stories.
Favorite alcoholic beverage?
Margarita with LOTS of salt. J
What three things do you never leave home without?
My phone, headphones, and my wallet. I *try* to never leave home without chapstick, but I frequently forget and HATE that.
What song would you sing to at karaoke?
Oh, that’s easy. My go-to karaoke song is Ice, Ice Baby. I memorized all the words when I was in middle school, and still know them to this day.
